The curriculum for this group workshop is designed for the drummer with limited or no experience. Students will learn modern, cutting-edge methods with particular interest in The New Breed technique. Correct stick grip, proper drum placement and seat height are some of the first topics covered. Basic beats and fills, demonstrated with easy-to-understand instruction, will be learned quickly and thoroughly. Drum sets are provided but students are required to bring drumsticks. Enrollment is very limited so register today to reserve your spot.
For most drummers, tuning a drum to a desired sound is a difficult task. Many head type and weight options and seemingly endless combinations of tensions between the batter and resonant heads can make it a frustrating experience. We will help take the mystery out of drum tuning by guiding you step-by-step through the process. No torque keys or smartphone apps required - just a drumstick, a drum key and your ear!
*Students can bring their own drums (no hardware) or use drums provided by the school. Fresh drumheads are preferred, but we'll work with what you have.*
Drumline members and drum set players will gain better hand technique through the curriculum in this group workshop. Exercises for faster stickings and accurate note placement will be demonstrated. Articulation techniques will be learned and better control of dynamics will be achieved. Open/closed rolls, flams and other rudiments are covered and each student's progress is charted every week. With proper practice between each session, all students will notice much improvement in their hand technique.
This group workshop for drum set is for the experienced drummer that wants to add some pizzazz to their playing. Limb coordination will be challenged and exercises will be learned to help bring any drummer's independence to the next level. Intricate beats and fills are demonstrated and, more importantly, ideas and concepts will be explored to boost creativity. Drum sets are provided. All that's needed are drumsticks and a willingness to challenge your abilities!
